WordPress for the iPhone
Monday, July 21st, 2008I was really excited to try out Typepad when I heard it was going to be released for the iPhone. The possibilities for mobile blogging are endless. No longer would I need to carry around my laptop and pray that I could find a Wi-Fi connection if I wanted to focus on my blog. However I was soon disappointed to find out that although their iPhone application was free, their service wasn’t free. Why pay for a blogging service when WordPress is completely free and a decent service to work with?
Thankfully my dissapointment would not last. Recently the makers of WordPress announced that they are releasing their blogging application on the iPhone for FREE. You can learn more about this endeavor at http://iphone.wordpress.org. This again fueled my imagination for the possibilities of mobile blogging.
Just a few minutes ago WordPress for the iPhone has just been released in the iTunes App Store. I quickly downloaded and installed it on my device. In fact I’m writing this exact post on my iPhone. Pretty impressive I must say.
Setting up the application was a breeze. All I had to do was enter my account information and the application quickly accessed my blog. Instantly I had option of viewing and editing posts that I created in the past.
Creating posts are also a breeze. Enter a post title, tags, and category information and your ready to start blogging. You even can add photos to your post by using the built in camera on the iPhone or choosing a photo from your library. Once your finished you can use the built in browser to preview your post.
So far I’m impressed with what this application has to offer. I’m really looking forward to testing out Wordpress on the iPhone in the coming weeks and see if it can be a viable mobile blogging solution.
